25 Days AgoThis is a scam call purporting to be from the bank's security dept. reporting 'unusual transactions' - money paid to Amazon (£300)and £1,500 to an account in China using my Debit Card. It's been tried on me several times but I smelt a rat - I never use my Debit Card for anything but trivial sums. The idea is that "there is fraud in the bank not detected by the 'normal' banks security people" who, when you call them, have no record of the reported fraudulent transactions (no surprise there!). You are supposed to go to a branch of your bank and transfer a small amount to a new account (details provided by the scammer) which will identify the "fraudster" there. However this will reveal your own account details which then allows the scammers to empty your account.
